New, old media helped tell story of Aurora shootings - Philly.com
The Aurora shootings came to world attention thanks to an incredible interplay between “citizen journalists” - people, many of them teens, who were there, on the spot, mobile phones poised - and established media, which brought the story in its fullness to the world. Aurora resident Shantyl Toledo took a mobile-phone video of the shock and panic at the scene - bystanders screaming and running, a man in striped T-shirt stained with blood, someone in a Batman outfit - which he posted to YouTube ( http://bit.ly/SM8nuB). Denver TV station KDVR made it part of its live-streaming coverage, and soon the video had shot all over the world.
